How do I become captain of my high school softball team?

I really love playing softball, I played little leagu baseballl for a long time when I was younger, and the stopped. I recently started going to the batting cages and hitting slow and fast pitch softballs. It's really fun and my sister says I'm pretty good. My catching and throwing skills are good and they improve everyday. I am going to practice everyday this summer with my friends. But next year will be my 1st year on the team. Our school team flat out sucks, its quite sad because all the girls are so nice, its just too bad. I feel like I could be a great leader and bring the team to victory, but if I want to have a career I need an impressive team by my side. Please give advice :)
